After being affiliated with Local 752 for over 30 years on November first 1987 the membership from New Brunswick was granted a charter from the International under Local 842 covering the territory of the province.

In 1997 the province finally recognize the Ironworkers as a trade and in 2010 the trade was split into three categories:

  • Generalist IW
  • Structural & Ornamental IW
  • Reinforcing Iron Workers

In 2009 with a lot of help from District Council of Eastern Canada and Local 711 from Montreal reinforcing iron workers became members of this local.  Since being issued its charter this local has grown into a respectful membership of 670 members.
